Forouz is a registered social worker who works with individuals and partners with diverse cultural, spiritual, gender and sexual identities. She provides counselling in English and Farsi. She has a Masters of Social Work, a Masters of Arts in Social Anthropology, and a Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Anthropology.

Forouz has a distinct interest in supporting people who are experiencing major life transitions (e.g., separation and divorce, gender or sexual questioning, immigration and resettlement, career shifts, young adulthood, parenthood), as well as challenges in their relationships (e.g., emotional and sexual intimacy, communication and conflict resolution, low self-esteem or self-worth, abuse or trauma, dating, polyamory or non-monogamy).

Forouz views therapy as a journey of self-discovery. She is dedicated to providing her clients with a safe, accepting and compassionate space to explore the different aspects of who they are and how they interact with the world. Forouz walks alongside her clients, offering support and guidance, as they increase their awareness of the impact of different experiences, teachings and worldviews on how they function and make choices in their daily lives and relationships. She believes that when we explore, accept and connect with ourselves and others genuinely, we can move towards healing, balance and fulfillment in our lives.

Forouz is known for her kind, open-minded, intuitive, and grounded presence with her clients. She values deep and compassionate connections, open and honest communication and collaboration, as well as the use of metaphors and humour to explore challenging issues.

Her approach to therapy is diverse, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed and holistic. In order to meet her clients' unique needs, she draws on her training in psychology, anthropology, social work, and several therapeutic models (e.g., mindfulness, trauma-focused narrative therapy, sex therapy, solution-focused and strengths-based therapy, DBT, Affirmative CBT), as well as her professional experiences with diverse populations and issues. Forouz also shares relevant information and resources with her clients, offering alternative perspectives on their issues and supporting their practice of different techniques.

Since 2012, Forouz's professional experiences have included community education, program development, educational and support group facilitation, cyber-counselling, case management, as well as single-session, short-term and long-term counselling with individuals, partners and families. She has worked with diverse populations, including children and youth with learning, intellectual or physical disabilities, people who identify as members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, women in crisis, refugees and newcomers, parents, and seniors. She is passionate about diversity and equity, mental health, and sexual health.
